Helloooo everyone! Welcome to my page and thank you SO MUCH for being here. My name is Nick Scipione and I am grateful to tell you about myself and my walk with Jesus.

I am 23 years old and I was born and raised in Hershey, PA. I love playing the electric bass, running, laughing, and giving big hugs. In May of 2021 I graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Rehabilitation and Human Services.

Though I grew up going to church, it was in high school that I experienced a period of doubt in the existence of God. Questioning whether God was there made me uncomfortable. For me, it meant one of two things: either (1) God was not real and everything I had believed in growing up was a sham OR (2) God was real and He was angry at me for having such little faith in Him. With this fearful conflict in my heart, I had no intention of having a relationship with Jesus when I left home for Penn State.

This changed when I got involved with Wellspring Church. In the fall semester of my freshman year, I had breakfast with Aaron Kelly, the worship director from Wellspring Church. I voiced my doubts and guilt in questioning the existence of God. In response, Aaron said this to me: “It’s okay to question. Even the most faithful followers of Jesus do it, and that’s okay. It doesn’t mean that God wants a relationship with you any less.”

This bit of truth changed my life. God was not looking down on me from Heaven with His arms crossed out of anger and disappointment in my lack of faith. His arms were outstretched towards me, beckoning to me to run to Him and receive His love, His mercy, His grace, and His peace. I walked away from that conversation with Aaron feeling particularly joyful and liberated. I was baptized the following Easter.

Since graduating from Penn State, I have served on a World Race: Semesters squad in Central America and have attended Adventures In Missions’ Center for Global Action.

At this time, I am excited to grow in my sense of identity in Jesus. There is so much love, joy, rest, peace, security, and freedom to experience as we grow to trust who God says that He is and who He says that we are. I am looking forward to growing in this as I prepare to squad lead for L Squad–one of Gap Year’s 2022 trips!

Thank you so much for reading. God bless each and every one of you.

Isaiah 43:19:

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
    and streams in the wasteland.
